Role and Facility Information

Position Summary

Reporting to the Patient Care Manager Surgical Services, the Enterostomal Therapy nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care and nursing practice activities within the framework of quality management and in accordance with the mission statement. The role is defined by the needs of the Hospital, a select patient/family population, agency expectations and the goals for professional nursing practice.

Qualifications

- Graduate from an approved School of Nursing.

- Current registration with CRNBC.

- Bachelor of Science Nursing or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

- Minimum of two years progressive, successful experience in clinical medical and surgical nursing.

- Demonstrated counselling, teaching, consultative and leadership skills.

- Certification from an accredited School of Enterostomal Therapy or meets the entry requirements of an accredited School of Enterostomal Therapy and is committed to attendance at and completion of the Enterostomal Therapy Nursing Program.

- Must be self-directed in own professional growth and development (e.g. member of CAET).

Required Skills and Abilities:

- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

- Ability to promote safe competent patient care.

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all members of the healthcare team.

- Ability to communicate, and maintain good public relations with family and friends of patients.

- Ability to recognize and intervene appropriately in an emergency situation.

- Physical ability to perform duties of the position.

Wage: $39.16 - $48.00

Wage: $33.56 - $44.06
