Role and Facility Information

Royal Columbian Hospital (RCH) is seeking three full-time Emergency Physicians and Eagle Ridge Hospital (ERH) is seeking two full-time Emergency Physicians. Both hospitals also have opportunities to work as a locum. Most physicians work at both ERH and RCH. The successful applicants will have ACLS, CCFP(EM) or FRCPC(EM) certification and will be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. Previous experience in a large Emergency Department; as well as, ACLS, ATLS and PALS are required.


Eagle Ridge Hospital

ERH is a 154-beds hospital in Port Moody, BC, offering medical, surgical, regional rehabilitation, cardiac and diabetes outpatient programs, as well as 24/7 Emergency services with about 55,000 visits annually. ERH emergency department is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The new department will be three times larger with updated and modernized patient care and staff facilities.

Royal Columbian Hospital

RCH is a provincial referral hospital (stroke/cardiac/trauma/neurosurgery) located in New Westminster, BC, with 422 acute beds and is a University of British Columbia affiliated teaching hospital. It offers medical, surgical, advanced and interventional diagnostics & imaging, critical care, inpatient pediatrics, obstetrics, outpatient clinics, neonatology, cardiac surgery, neurosciences, with about 75,000 visits annually.

The Royal Columbian Hospital redevelopment is a multi-year, multi-phase project to increase the hospital's capacity, beds and services. Phase one is complete and includes a new 75-bed mental health and substance use wellness centre with more outpatient clinics. Phase two has been approved and adds an acute care tower with more beds for intensive care, cardiac intensive care, obstetrics, medical and surgical beds and a new larger emergency department.

Successful applicants will join the Columbian Emergency Physician Association (CEPA) which currently has more than 60 members. The group is responsible for coverage of both ERH and RCH Emergency Departments.

Strong command of high acuity medicine and relevant experience is considered a highly desired asset.
