Psychiatrist – Developmental Disabilities

The Fraser Health Developmental Disabilities Mental Health Services (DDMHS) is seeking a Child & Youth or Adult psychiatrist to provide specialized mental health services in a part-time or fulltime capacity, with clinics held in Fraser Valley and Vancouver Coastal Regions, for individuals who live with co-existing developmental disabilities and a mental illness, and or challenging behaviours. Previous training and experience in Developmental Disabilities is an asset.

Clinical Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include providing individualized assessment, treatment and education for adolescents and adults with developmental disabilities and complex mental health needs.

As a member of multi-disciplinary teams at Fraser Health Authority, you will provide a high standard of care to patient and their families in community mental health setting. Services include assessment, out-patient treatment and consultation, family meetings, case conferences, consultation and collaboration with other physicians and multidisciplinary teams. The psychiatrist will also promote continuity of care by maintaining good working relationships with all those providing care and services and advocating for the psychiatric needs of individual patients.

Remuneration will be in the form of Fee for Service. APP sessions will be provided for services which cannot be appropriately billed via the Medical Services Plan.

To be considered, applicants will have:

•Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with physicians, staff and community

•Eligibility for Medical Licensure in the province of BC

•CMPA coverage

•Availability for 1 – 5 days per week will be considered
