Role and Facility Information

The Island Health Division of Rehabilitation of Medicine has an opportunity for a General Physiatrist with FRCPC certification and a special interest in Neurorehabilitation to support inpatient and outpatient services in South Island.

Tertiary care services for Island Health are located at the Victoria General Hospital and the Royal Jubilee Hospital, both located in Victoria, which provide a full range of medical, surgical, and psychiatric specialists as well as diagnostic services including x-rays, nuclear medicine, sonography, CT and MRI.

With 68 rehabilitation beds in the two tertiary hospitals, the Division supports the full scope of rehabilitation services with the exception of a specialized inpatient spinal cord program. Physiatrists have access to interventional injections and, for those with a CSCN Diploma and Diagnostic Accreditation Program approval, EMG clinic access is available one day a week. Our physiatrists provide a consulting and directive care service at both sites and are on-call for the Victoria General Hospital 20 bed Rehabilitation Ward.

Members of the Division are involved in supporting the Island Medical Program.
