Endocrinologist

The RCH Department of Medicine is looking for a clinical Endocrinologist. The successful candidate will provide support to Royal Columbian Hospital.

Specifically, the Endocrinologist role will include:

•Contribute to management of inpatient endocrinology including diabetes by provision of clinical service duties as a general endocrinologist

•Maintain the highest standards of safe clinical and professional practice

•Maintain strong collegial link with members of Department of Medicine and with Hospitalist involved in day to day care of patients.

•Provide leadership and support for existing initiatives for glycemic control and diabetes education. Participate in appropriate department and staff meetings and committees

•Provide ongoing supervision, mentorship and teaching of medical students and residents

•Provide on-call coverage within the established Endocrinology on-call roster

The successful candidate must fulfill the requirements of the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, maintain staff privileges, maintain medical licensure and malpractice insurance, and undertake a reasonable amount of continuing medical education. Recruitment will proceed as per the FHA Medical Staff Bylaws.

The successful candidate must meet the following qualifications:

•Hold an FRCPC in Endocrinology & Metabolism

•He/she must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of BC

•The Division is looking for a candidate with additional training in the area of reproductive endocrinology or a willingness to pursue further education in this area.

Facility: Royal Columbian Hospital

Royal Columbian Hospital is a provincial referral hospital (tertiary/trauma care centre) located in New Westminster, BC, with 422 acute beds that is a University of BC Affiliated teaching hospital that offers medical, surgical, advanced diagnostics & imaging, critical care, inpatient pediatrics, levels 1 & 3 obstetrics, outpatient clinics, level 2 & 3 neonatology, cardiac surgery, neurosciences, and tertiary programs as well as 24/7 emergency services with 75,986 visits annually.

The Royal Columbian Hospital Redevelopment is a multi-year, multi-phase project to increase the hospital's capacity, beds and services. Phase one is underway and includes multiple projects, many which prepare the hospital’s infrastructure for future expansion as well as a new 75-bed mental health and substance use wellness centre with more outpatient clinics by late 2019/early 2020. Phase two, if approved by government, proposes to add an acute care tower with more beds for intensive care, cardiac intensive care, obstetrics and medicine/surgical and a new larger emergency by late 2022. Phase three proposes to upgrade existing buildings to support areas in the Health Care Centre, such as the laboratory and pharmacy, by 2025.
