Specialty Family Practitioner/General Practitioner

Subspecialty Emergency

Role and Facility Information

Clinic in Oliver, British Columbia will have an opening for a full-service rurally minded and orientated family physician. . It has always been the vision and goal of our group medical practice to adding like-minded practitioners who seek to balance professional pursuits with social and family values. We continue to support a group of associates within the group where the practice will continue to value pursuing continuing medical education activities, participation in the activities of our local community hospital, as well as generous time off if desired by the associates. Our long-term goal is to have the group become free of the encumbrances of trying to rely on locum activities to support the associates time away from the office (CME and vacation time). We have been very successful in operating a well-managed and fully staffed clinic in our downtown office location.

About the clinic:

We are fortunate to have a diverse blend of physician skills and interests within the clinic. We are all GP's / FP's and four of us hold hospital privileges at the local hospital and numerous participate in services offered at the facility including inpatient and long-term care, weekend ward round coverage for the entire GP group, and ER on-call. We do not have an obstetrical service at SOGH. One community physician does do intra-partum care and deliveries in Penticton. A number of us participate in prenatal care in a shared manner with the GP obstetrician. Our medical office and the practice is a teaching site for UBC's southern medical program located in Kelowna. We currently host medical students and support R1 family medicine residents.

The five physicians at the clinic generally work four days per week in the office, as well as our hospital and nursing home commitments. The clinic is generally staffed with three - four physicians on any given day. We are a "paperless" office and have been using an electronic medical record for a number of years. We have six office employees - three medical office assistants, an office manager, and two part-time billing clerks who manage all of the billings efficiently and effectively. We are fortunate to have a very youthful and energetic medical and office staff that are well organized, efficient and aim to support and please the physicians whom they support.

The clinic property is leased and as such there is no "buy in" for the clinic. The clinic is well maintained and an attractive and rewarding place to work. There is on site free parking at the clinic. The clinic is open Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm.
