Reporting to the Program Manager of Paediatrics Medicine and in collaboration with the Medical Director of the Gastroenterology, the Gastroenterology Nurse Clinician is responsible for the planning, deliver, and coordination of education sessions and learning materials for nursing and other health care professionals for the Gastroenterology Division and acts as a patient advocate, care facilitator and clinical nursing resource for patients with gastroenterology disorder diagnosis and their families. The Gastroenterology Nurse Clinician acts as an expert clinical resource to nursing and other health care professionals within British Columbia Children’s Hospital (BCCH) and throughout the province by teaching nursing practices related to Gastroenterology disorders to nursing staff, other health professionals, as well as patients and their families. The Nurse Clinician is responsible for assigning direct care responsibilities to other nursing staff in accordance with established policies, standards, procedures and philosophy at BCCH. The Nurse Clinician provides and coordinates nursing practice activities and education related to the care of patients with Gastroenterology disorders on inpatient units and ambulatory care settings.


Education, Training and Experience

• Current practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of British Columbia (CRNBC).
• Baccalaureate in Nursing plus three years’ recent, related experience, preferably in an ambulatory care or community health service setting, including experience in developing and delivering educational programs for staff, patients and their families with an emphasis on chronic diseases management or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• The Employer will equally consider an equivalent combination of education, training and experience (with the exception of Public Health and Preventative Nurses).
