BC Children's Hospital (BCCH) cares for the province's most acutely ill or injured children and youth, provides developmental and rehabilitation services to children and youth throughout BC, and offers a broad range of health services. Sunny Hill Health Centre for Children (SHHC), a leading provincial facility offering specialized services to children and youth with developmental disabilities from birth to age 19, works collaboratively with BCCH. SHHC focuses on the child and their family while supporting health care professionals in their community. BCCH also operates a wide number of specialized health programs, is a leading acute care teaching facility, and conducts research to advance health and care through the BC Children's Hospital Research Institute and in partnership with the University of British Columbia.

BC Children’s Hospital Emergency Physicians Associates
British Columbia Children’s Hospital (BCCH) cares for the most acutely ill or injured children and youth. BCCH also provides developmental and rehabilitation services to children and youth throughout BC, and operates a wide number of specialized health programs provided through a number of health services provider groups. As the main pediatrics clinical training site for the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC), BCCH is the leading acute care teaching facility in the province, and conducts research to advance health and knowledge through the BC Children's Hospital Research Institute, and collaborations with other institutions. BCCH was recently accredited as the only Pediatric Trauma Center in British Columbia and serves as the site for definitive care of all major trauma in the province.
The Children’s Hospital Emergency Physicians Associates (CHEPA) is a formal democratic group of Pediatric Emergency Physicians that provides clinical service to the Emergency Department of BCCH, and is dedicated to excellence in clinical care, research and education. A fully equipped state-of-the-art simulation center within the hospital and the UBC Centre for Health Educational Scholarship (CHES) present opportunities for growth and development of faculty interested in educational research, while the BC Children's Hospital Research Institute supports opportunities for the clinician scholar.
As a locum pediatric emergency physician you will have the opportunity to care for pediatric patients with complex medical needs with the support of robust inpatient medical, surgical, and critical care services, as well as participate in bedside teaching of undergraduate and graduate students. CHEPA is anticipating the need for at least one and potentially additional locum physicians:
1. Minimum 6-month full time (0.8 FTE = 12 shifts / month, 7-8.5 hours per shift) PEM physician with an equitable distribution of day, evening, overnight, and weekend coverage. The anticipated start date for this position is January 2017
2. Additional clinical PEM locum opportunities may be available throughout 2017 ranging from 0.4-0.8 FTE
