Role and Facility Information

The Northern Health Authority in partnership with the Divisions of Family Practice Prince George is seeking a family practitioner for a busy six physician clinic to provide patient care services including hospital inpatients. . The clinic is located in a medical building with lab, x-ray and pharmacy, one block from University Hospital of Northern British Columbia (UHNBC).

Many options are available including assuming entire panel (approx. 2000 patients) or sharing with another physician. Space includes four exam rooms and two office spaces as per share agreement. Current income is approximately $300,000 with 20% overhead and good dividends paid on building shares.

Practice has a fully integrated Electronic Medical Record (MOIS).

Prince George is a dynamic and supportive medical community where family physicians can be more engaged in a much broader spectrum of practice than many other similar sized communities. Physicians are able to develop expanded skills and experience in areas of interest. Many develop a number of practice interests over their careers. Training for such interests can be funded by the BC REAP (Rural Educational Action Plan).

• Longitudinal hospital inpatient work

• Doctor of the Day rota shared by a network of family practitioners

• GP obstetrics call

• Emergency Department work

• Other areas of special interest

• The University Hospital of Northern BC in Prince George is a University of British Columbia Family Medicine teaching site with > 60% of our graduates practicing in Prince George or smaller communities. Family Physicians are encouraged to provide hospital inpatient care.

• The University of Northern BC Medical School offers a variety of options to become involved in teaching at all levels.

• Home of the Northern Continuing Medical Education Program which offers a full program of medical education opportunities: http://ncme.ca/

• Electronic Medical Record - robust and widely admired MOIS (Medical Office Information System) developed and used in the community of PG and across he north and various communities across the province.

• The home of AMCARE developed to allow physicians the ability to compare their aggregate panel data with other physicians while maintaining physician ownership and stewardship off the data.
