Role and Facility Information

Fraser Health Authority is seeking a consulting Dermatologist to add to the current Dermatology group of 2 Dermatologists to provide service to the communities of Abbotsford, Chilliwack and Mission.

Abbotsford's Hospital has a budgeted capacity of 262 acute care beds and 10 neo-natal intensive care bassinettes. Abbotsford Hospital is located in the City of Abbotsford. Bound by the Fraser rive to the north, the US border to the south, Chilliwack to the ease, and the Township of Langley to the west, Abbotsford is the largest city in Fraser Health’s eastern health service delivery area. In 2011, an estimated 141,000 people living in the Abbotsford local health area (LHA) and the population is expected to increase 21 percent over the next ten years.

Chilliwack's hospital is located in the City of Chilliwack, the largest community in the hospital’s LHA which includes smaller communities of Yarrow, Vedder, Sardis, and Rosedale. With a population of nearly 88,000 in 2011, the Chilliwack LHA is a growing community whose population is expected to increase 18 percent over the next ten years. This is a community hospital and has a budgeted capacity of 144 acute care beds.

Mission's Hospital is a bedroom community roughly 70 kilometres east of Vancouver. There are an estimated 43,439 residents in Mission LHA with a median age of 39 ½ years. Mission LHA’s population will experience above average growth as it is projected to increase by 21 percent over the next ten years. MMH is a 22-bed, community hospital and has a 10 bed hospital. It provided acute services including 24/7 emergency, outpatient and inpatient services, general medicine, laboratory and diagnostic services.

The Dermatologist would be providing mostly outpatient and private community services and would also be expected to provide consulting services to in patients at the community hospitals. The Dermatologist would also be expected to obtain Clinical Faculty appointment with University of British Columbia and provide supervision, mentorship and teaching to Medical Trainees.


Compensation is fee for service.


The successful candidate must have full FRCPC certification and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
