Role and Facility Information

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Vancouver General Hospital is looking to hire an academic dermatopathologist to join a team of about 30 pathologists providing surgical pathology coverage at Vancouver General Hospital and University of British Columbia Hospital.

The primary focus of this position will be to join three other dermatopathologists in providing academic and clinical coverage for the dermatopathology service in our department.

Therefore, the successful applicant will have certification in anatomic or general pathology and certification in dermatopathology

-Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) in Anatomical or

General Pathology (mandatory)

-Diplomate of the American Boards of Dermatology and Pathology in

Dermatopathology (mandatory)

This is a busy clinical service as the principal destination for skin biopsies taken by dermatologists, surgeons and family physicians within Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, as well as a provincial subspecialty consultation service.

This position will also include a clinical faculty appointment in the University of British Columbia (UBC) Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine with a cross-appointment in the Department of Dermatology and Skin Science. The position includes significant teaching responsibilities within the UBC pathology and dermatology residency programs and within a fellowship program in dermatopathology. The successful applicant will demonstrate a commitment to collaborative research within the UBC Departments of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Dermatology and Skin Science and to providing education at the local, national and international levels. Clinical faculty appointments at UBC will be at a rank determined by the Appointments and Promotion Committee of the UBC Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine.
