Role and Facility Information

Vancouver Community Mental Health Services is currently looking for a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to provide psychiatric care to clients of the Pacific Spirit Child and Youth Mental Health team. The psychiatrist who accepts this position will provide psychiatric care as part of a multi-disciplinary team that supports a culturally diverse population of children and youth in Vancouver, BC.

We will be looking for a psychiatrist who is interested in innovative approaches to providing accessible mental health care for family The physician interested in this position should be prepared to work with a diverse population from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. They should be aware of cultural issues that often arise with in working with children, youth and families..

The psychiatrist will be involved in the planning, implementation and evaluation of programs. There are additional opportunities to provide training and to conduct research. Time and scheduling are negotiable and opportunities at other mental health teams may be available.

Qualifications:
• A Medical Degree and eligibility for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.
• Specialist qualifications in psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
• Eligibility for faculty appointment with the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Medicine is ideal.
• Experience working with children, youth and families is required
• Additionally, the candidate should have:
• A demonstrated ability working as a member of an inter-professional health care team.
• Experience in community-based psychiatric care
• A commitment to participate in new methods in health improvement and care delivery, including shared care.
• Candidates must join the Medical Staff of Vancouver Coastal Health if they are not already a member.

Reporting Relationship:
The psychiatrist will report through the Medical Manager of the Child & Youth Mental Health Program for Vancouver Community Mental Health & Addiction Services to the Program Medical Director.
