Role and Facility Information

Join our team of two recent UBC Family Medicine graduates in a new family practice clinic in Powell River. The medical clinic is a modern clinic. It has the capacity for three full-time physicians or two full-time and two part-time. We are looking for a locums interested in becoming permanent physicians at the clinic. PRMC offers full family practice services and a walk-in clinic.

Our wheel chair accessible clinic is located at the center of Powell River with ample free parking that can accommodate all our patients during busy clinic hours.

We use Med Access EMR and we are the only clinic in Powell River that utilizes online booking for our patients.

Optional hours are from 9 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday. We do cross coverage for vacation. Inpatient hospital coverage is required.

Emergency/obstetrics/long term care/surgical assist are optional.

Powell River was named a cultural capital of Canada in 2004. It offers a wide and varied range of activities for arts and culture enthusiasts. It also boasts a stimulating blend of sport, recreation and outdoor adventure. Opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts include: kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing, golfing, boating, hiking, biking, fishing and scuba diving.

DEADLINES:

July 10 – 31 Application window for interested candidates (CV, Cover Letter, etc.)

August 1 to October 14:

All applications, interviews, clinic & site visits* are due. *Rural site visits require approval and coordination with the clinic, Divisions of Family Practice and VCH prior to visiting the clinic and community to be eligible for 100% coverage from the Rural Programs funding.

October 15:

Deadline for clinics and residents to submit their rankings

October 16 - 20:

VCH to review applications and rankings for clinics and candidates. Following the review and approval, the successful candidates will be notified.

October 21 to November 30:

Return of Service Addendum and offer of work will begin with the candidate, the clinic and VCH.

December 1 - 13:

VCH deadline to have a fully signed ROS addendum and offer of work fully executed before the winter break.

Physician Overhead
The overhead can be changed to 70/30 clinic/hospital/nursing home and 100/0 ER/OB anesthesia/surgical assit/ weekend call after 6 months based on commitment. Details will be discussed during the interview.
Billing Split
65/35 clinic/hospital/nursinghome and 100/0 ER/OB/ Anesthesia/surgical assist/ weekend call.

The opportunity to see unattached patients on a walk-in basis, to build your own patient panel, to take on additional shifts in the emergency department (with approval from the ED), and provide additional services (e.g. Anaesthesia, maternity, pediatrics, long term care, surgical assist etc.).
