Role and Facility Information

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a permanent part-time family physician for Purdy Pavilion Long Term Care located adjacent to Koerner Acute Care Pavilion on the University of BC campus.

Purdy is owned and operated by Vancouver Coastal Health. It has 200 residents and 4 physicians, in addition to a robust multidisciplinary team. The site is a multicultural home to mainly frail elderly residents requiring complex long-term care.

Purdy is a teaching facility, with participation of trainees from all disciplines.

Reporting to the site's Medical Director, the chosen candidate will play a critical role in the supporting the primary care needs of residents and in the development of an inter-professional shared care team. He/she is responsible for providing direct clinical services to residents of Purdy 3. He/she fosters collaborative inter-professional practice environment that enhances client centred services within the Residential Care Program. He/she works within a self-directed team of physicians and other inter-professional colleagues to achieve excellence in client centred care.


-Medical Degree and current license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia

-Certification with the College of Family Practice of Canada

-Experience in care of the elderly

In addition, the candidate will have:

-A commitment to participate in new methods in health improvement and care delivery

-A demonstrated ability in working as a member of an inter-professional health care team. Note that certain days and times are present to coordinate with the team care conferences and participation is mandatory.
