Role and Facility Information

Full-time position available in the beautiful sea to sky corridor to join two general adult psychiatrists at Vancouver Coastal Health Mental Health and Substance Use Services teams in Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton. Successful candidates will optimally live and play in the sea to sky corridor communities.

Clinical services to include wide range of outpatient psychiatric consultative, short term and longitudinal services. Successful applicants will have experience and comfort in working with a wide range of psychiatric conditions including persistent and serious mental illness, mood and anxiety disorders, personality and substance use disorders. Opportunities are available to be more or less involved with geriatric populations, child and youth populations, inpatient consult liaison work and addictions care, group psychotherapy and program development.

Successful candidates will work collaboratively with well functioning interdisciplinary teams of psychiatric nurses, clinical counselors, occupational and vocational therapists, outreach workers and peer support workers. We are fortunate to work closely with a dedicated and diverse group of full service family physicians.

Successful candidate will be primarily fee for service and are eligible for rural incentive fees and sessional compensation for non-direct patient care time.

Application timeline for those who are interested to apply (CV, Cover Letter, etc.)

Aug 1 – Sep 30:

Interviews and site visits take place.

A site visit is usually coordinated following the first interview with the clinic (phone/skype/FaceTime, etc.). Site visit funding is available to visit the Rural Communities. Coordination and confirmation of a site visit is required with the site and VCH Physician Recruitment prior to review the expense reimbursement conditions.

October 1 -10:

The Selection Committee for each department will review all applications and rankings for a 3 year return to service placement.

Oct 11-31: Following the review a notification to the successful candidate will be made. At that time the Return to Service Addendum and offer of work will begin with the candidate, the clinic and VCH.

Nov 1-15: VCH’S deadline to have a fully signed ROS addendum and offer of work fully executed before the winter break.
