Role and Facility Information

This clinic is a small practice in the heart of the beautiful Sunshine Coast. We like to know our patients well and have learned that it is largely because we work as a team that our patients like it here. People working here have to love getting to know Max the dog who works here most days. It helps to be open to helping spot ripe cherries, plums and apples out the windows so we get them before the birds and raccoons. It also helps to want to know your patients well.

The converted house we work in has a covered area out back where we sometimes barbecue at lunch or on a Special evening. We have a shower for those who like lunchtime exercise, and private doors for easy egress when the hospital calls.

We have been using MedAccess EMR since 2005. We are 5 minutes from the 50 bed hospital.

The Sunshine Coast is a 40 minute ferry ride from Vancouver: hiking, biking and boating paradise. Doctors here typically also do hospital work—in the old fashioned full service arrangement of fee for service, not as a hospitalist. Emergency work, obstetrics and other hospital based skills are encouraged and supported. Sechelt is great place to grow as clinician or to share developed skills.

Live and work in BC

Sechelt is one of the largest communities on the Sunshine Coast, a region named because of the considerable sunshine it receives. The relaxed lifestyle, stunning natural beauty, and year-round recreational opportunities in the area make it a highly desirable place to live. Its close proximity to Vancouver gives residents the chance to experience city life, and return home, all on the same day. Sechelt is situated on a small neck of land separating Sechelt Inlet from the Strait of Georgia. Home to its original inhabitants, the Shishalh First Nations people, the community was the first Aboriginal group in Canada to adopt self-government. Sechelt boasts a spectacular coastline blessed with pebbled beaches, lush mountains, and cascading waterfalls.
