Role and Facility Information

The Division of Plastic Surgery, Department of Surgery at The University of British Columbia (UBC) invites applications for the Dr. Patricia Clugston VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation Chair in Breast Reconstruction Surgery. This academic appointment will be a grant tenure track or grant tenured position at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher. A clinical appointment with Vancouver Coastal Health in Plastic Surgery is anticipated.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide expertise in clinical breast reconstruction surgery, lead a productive and innovative research program that advances the field, and support and advance the goals of the UBC Breast Reconstruction Program and the Division of Plastic Surgery, UBC Department of Surgery. The successful candidate will participate in the undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate teaching activities of the Division and the Department, as well as make academic service contributions.

UBC seeks a candidate with a commitment to teaching and research to advance knowledge and management of alloplastic and microsurgical breast reconstruction. The successful candidate must have a demonstrated ability in teaching, a strong record of independent research and experience or training in conducting clinical research. The candidate should have or be eligible for certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. A PhD or an appropriate advanced degree preferred.

Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Review of applications will begin on July 20, 2018 and will continue until the position is filled. The anticipated start date for the position is March 1, 2019 or a date to be mutually agreed upon.
