Role and Facility Information

Emergency Trauma Radiologist

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a full-time academic Emergency Trauma (ERT) Radiologist to join a dynamic group of 27 academic radiologists providing general and subspecialty diagnostic and interventional radiological services to the Vancouver General Hospital and UBC Hospital, both integral parts of the University of British Columbia hospital system.

All candidates must hold an MD degree (or equivalent), have completed Fellowship training in Emergency Trauma Radiology, and be eligible for licensure in the Province of British Columbia. All applicants must also be currently certified by, or eligible for certification by, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The successful applicant will be located at Vancouver General Hospital and UBC Hospital.

Mandatory candidate qualifications include:
(1) Post-graduate Fellowship training in ERT radiology
(2) Willing to work on-site as the primary radiologist responsible for imaging
studies in an Accredited Level 1 Trauma Emergency department on a “24/7” basis
(3) Demonstrated capacity to work efficiently in a high volume practice
(4) Demonstrate an accomplished track record in clinical teaching at the medical student, resident, and Fellowship level.
(5) Willing and capable of cross-covering other service areas in the
department such as General Ultrasound, General Body CT/MRI and General
Radiography and Cardiac CT.
(6) Research and clinical trial experience with strong publication record

The ideal candidate will also:
(1) Have subspecialty training in Abdominal radiology
(2) Have experience in Cardiac CT
(3) Have experience in Dual-Energy CT
(4) Have experience and in-depth knowledge of contemporary low-dose CT techniques
(5) Have experience in working with and developing relationships with industry
(6) Have in-depth knowledge of educational and radiological information technology systems

The successful candidate will enjoy a challenging practice including CT, US, MRI and General Radiography in a PACS environment. The remuneration and vacation arrangements are competitive for this geographic region. Following a successful probation period, the candidate will have the opportunity to join this collaborative practice. University appointment at the University of British Columbia will be granted in the clinical stream commensurate with previous rank/experience. Applicants must be currently certified by, or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
