Role and Facility Information

North Vancouver, British Columbia: Lions Gate Hospital, a member of Vancouver Coastal Health, is currently seeking a full time plastic surgeon to join our busy team of 4 surgeons. The successful applicant will be expected to provide general plastic surgery care including: management of skin cancers, breast, hand, facial and emergency surgery. Candidates with previous work experience/leadership will be given preference. Fellowship completion in Hand/Wrist or Microsurgery would also be an asset to our expanding microsurgery program.

Lions Gate hospital is a Level 3 Trauma Centre and the fourth busiest hospital in Vancouver with 268 beds and 7 operating rooms. We have plans for a new hospital tower and OR with "expected" completion in 2022. The plastic surgery department currently consists of 4 members. We are hoping to expand our coverage with the successful applicant. In addition to plastic surgery, Lions Gate Hospital has busy General Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, and Neurosurgery Divisions.

We are an expanding division with a large referral base from the Coastal Community of Care including the North Shore, the Sea to Sky Corridor (Squamish, Whistler and Pemberton) and the Sunshine Coast, and the Central Coast (Bella Bella, Bella Coola). The successful applicant will be based at Lions Gate Hospital but will be expected to heavily participate in the expansion of services offered in our Community of Care, especially in Squamish and the Sunshine Coast. Resources include access to a nursing staffed minor treatment room, hand clinic, and wound clinic, and the operating room. An Academic appointment and teaching opportunities through the University of British Columbia are expected.

North Vancouver is a gorgeous waterfront municipality on the North shore of Burrard inlet. It has a very active population with easy access to the local mountains for skiing and hiking. Downtown Vancouver is 20 minutes distance and Whistler is only a 1.5 hour drive.

Applicants must have Certification in Plastic Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and must be eligible or licensed in the Province of British Columbia. Expressions of interest must include an up-to-date curriculum vitae and a covering letter describing previous specialty and subspecialty training, previous working experience and an explanation of reasons for your interest in this position .
