Bella Coola

Bella Coola is situated in a scenic mountain valley at the head of Burke Channel on the inland west coast of British Columbia, known as the Cariboo Chilcotin region. It has a rich First Nations culture as well as a strong Norwegian heritage, due to its close proximity to Hagensborg, settled by Norwegians in the late 1800s. The community is known for its vibrant history, sense of adventure and wide array of recreational opportunities, from fishing, hiking and canoeing to cross-country skiing, snowmobiling and glacier viewing. Forestry, fishing and tourism form the basis of the economy here.
