Family Practice Physician

APP funded Position

Established in 1969, we are a Community Health Centre with a history of primary care innovation. the health centre is dedicated to providing high quality integrated health care in East Vancouver’s to families and individuals of all ages. We focus on clients with complex social, mental or physical needs.

Our centre has an interdisciplinary approach to care within our medical, dental, pharmacy and multi-cultural outreach programs. Our health care team includes six physicians, two advanced practice nurses, a LPN, a pharmacist, a counselor, a social worker, and well trained and friendly support staff. We use Oscar as our EMR.

This position, funded through a contract with the VCHA and the Alternative Payments Program of the BC Ministry of Health, is a full service family physician position providing care in clinic, home and institutions within a shared practice and team approach with evening, and shared call and week-end clinics. This position will likely be involved in outreach clinics in our catchment area.

Vancouver BC is ideal for the family physician and/ or family who love the outdoors and all it has to offer. Skiing, hiking, sailing and kayaking are all within a 20 minute drive from REACH.

Qualifications required

• Physician registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of B.C., certification with the College of Family Practice of Canada.

• A Background in working with youth, mental health, addictions, fragile families, refugees and frail elderly desired.

• Current methadone exception and Suboxone certification or willingness to obtain same.

• Ability to communicate effectively with adults and children of different ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds on the subject of medical health and related matters.

• Ability to function and work cooperatively as a member of an interdisciplinary team and with members of the community.

• Skills in performing the full range of medical health care described above.

• Skill in maintaining the Medical Clinic as an efficient unit of an integrated health centre.

• Commitment and ability to implement strategic goals, mission, vision and values.

• Experience with group visits and using an advanced access booking schedule an asset.

• Awareness of the impact of colonization on Aboriginal peoples and understanding of cultural competency as a care provider

• Ability to speak another language an asset particularly Amharic, Arabic, Spanish.

• Experience in primary care research and policy an asset
