Surgeries that were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic are starting back up as part of a massive surgical renewal plan. Beginning this month, the Province will launch an extensive surgical renewal plan that will include calling patients, adding new capacity, and hiring and training staff, such as Anesthesiologists, Surgical Operating Room Nurses and Allied Health Professionals.

The British Columbia Ministry of Health (the Ministry) has collaborated with the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Medicine (UBC FoM), the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC (CPSBC), and health authorities in British Columbia (BC), to offer up to six 12-month anesthesiology fellowships based at St. Paul’s Hospital, Royal Columbian Hospital, Kelowna General Hospital and Surrey Memorial Hospital.
