B.C. launches new payment model for family doctors

British Columbia has recently introduced a new payment model for family physicians!

This new payment structure is designed to recognize and compensate family physicians for using their time effectively by spending more time with their patients, while reducing the administrative burden on them.

Audra Fediurek found herself in the middle of the summer's record-setting heat wave last July. She was hiking alongside the seashore with her husband, with no shade in sight and no nearby exits. Audra is HEABC's Vice-President, Human Resource Strategies and Services; her portfolio includes Health Match BC. She is also a weekend adventurer. Audra and her husband had decided to take on the West Coast Trail, a multi-day trip, as part of their summer vacation. 

B.C’s new system of primary care has arrived for residents living in Fraser Northwest communities

In May 2018, the government of British Columbia announced its plans to launch a new system of primary care that would give British Columbians across the province access to better, more accessible health care. For this initiative, the government provided funding for Family Physicians and Nurse Practitioners which Health Match BC set out to recruit by working closely with the Ministry of Health, publicly funded health employers, Divisions of Family Practice, and local practices.
