The Health Care Assistant Career Consultant plans and manages the delivery of initiatives and projects aimed at increasing the number of qualified Health Care Assistants (HCAs) in BC. Reporting to the Program Manager, Recruitment Services (HMBC) and with direction from the Senior Consultant, BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry, this position is responsible for guiding and supporting applicants as they seek registration with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry and pursue a Health Care Assistant career.

In addition to assisting candidates, the consultant will take an active role in developing and delivering workshops to promote the Health Care Assistant profession to high school, nursing students and internationally Educated Nurses and to make them aware of career opportunities in the field. Working
collaboratively with the marketing team and under the direction of HMBC’s Marketing Lead, the consultant suggests and creates marketing content including but not limited to website , social media, and print publications content.

The consultant establishes and maintains effective working relationships with key stakeholders, including health authority representatives and other BC health employers, post-secondary educators, employment agencies and industry associations’ staff. The consultant represents the Province of British Columbia at local, national, and international venues.

We are looking for someone with a passion for improving health care through the effective recruitment of Health Care Assistants. Educated with a university degree related to Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Education and/or relevant clinical practice along with three (3) to five (5) years recent related human resources, counseling, admissions / educational advising experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Expertise in immigration or Aboriginal recruitment experience is an asset.

Ability to use judgment, independently prioritize work, and work within a highly computerized environment is critical, along with a commitment to high professional and personal standards of work and conduct. BC Driver’s License and travel is required.
