Wild rivers and tranquil lakes. Sheer-walled canyons and wide open plains. Mountain peaks and rolling grasslands. Such contrasts in the landscape are found in BC's Thompson Okanagan region, a haven of natural beauty where opposites most definitely attract.

The valleys and vistas of this region, located in south central BC, are home to lush orchards, fertile vineyards, and cattle-filled farms and ranches. Here you can pick your own peaches, tour award-winning wineries, or saddle up and explore the region on horseback. And that's just the beginning. With more sunshine than any other region, it's the ideal place to take your vacation on a houseboat, cast a line, or play 18 holes at one of more than 50 golf courses, some ranked among Canada's best. You can also take in some of the region's rich culture and history, from the ghost towns of Granite City and Blakeburn to the historic community of Greenwood, the smallest city in Canada.

Forestry, tourism, and agriculture are the main industries in this region, which is home to major centres such as Kamloops and Kelowna as well as the smaller towns of Salmon Arm and Ashcroft. Getting to and around the Thompson Okanagan is made easy by major highways and regional airports.

British Columbia's patient-centred health care system is structured to achieve the highest possible levels of efficiency, service co-ordination, and accountability. The Thompson Okanagan geographic regions is made up of two health authorities, Interior Health and Provincial Health Services.
