It could be the grandeur of the mountains. Or the unforgettable colours of the autumn leaves. It seems that everyone who comes to the Rockies experiences a renewed love of nature.

Located in the southeastern corner of British Columbia, this awe-inspiring region challenges adventure-seekers, provides relaxation to the world-weary and affords history buffs opportunities to learn about Canada's last frontier. In winter, the area's a magnet for skiers and snowboarders. Spring's warm days are ideal for golf and cycling. Favourite summer pastimes include riding the rapids of Kicking Horse River or swimming in Kootenay Lake. Twelve major parks, the jewels in the crown of this popular region, beckon year-round discovery.

The main drivers of the economy in this region are tourism, small business, forestry, and mining. The major highways in the Rockies make travel by car easy and the stunning scenery makes the journey as pleasing as the destination. Air travel to the region includes daily flights from Vancouver and Calgary. Larger centres in this area include Revelstoke, Cranbrook, and Trail. But whether you're in the larger centres or the smaller historic towns such as Nelson, you'll find an enduring sense of community that makes you feel right at home.

British Columbia's patient-centred health care system is structured to achieve the highest possible levels of efficiency, service co-ordination, and accountability. The Rockies geographic region is made up of two health authorities;  Interior Health and Provincial Health Services.
