Physicians

How we can help

Since 1999, Health Match BC has assisted thousands of Canadian and international physicians to relocate and practise in British Columbia (BC).

Our physician services team will assess your training and experience to determine if you are likely to qualify to practise medicine in BC.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC (CPSBC) is the agency which reviews candidates' qualifications and oversees the licensing of physicians in BC.

Once preliminary assessment of eligibility for licensure is received, we can assist you in matching your professional and lifestyle interests with opportunities throughout the province.

International Medical Graduates

If you are an international medical graduate, the CPSBC requires completion of the Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Exam before you can practise in BC, unless you are specifically exempted.

Physicians who completed their medical education outside of Canada must have the Physician Credentials Registry of Canada (PCRC) verify certain documents with the institution that issued the document. Candidates for licensure in BC must also meet the CPSBC’s English proficiency requirements

Recognized Training and Certification outside Canada

Graduates of accredited family medicine training programs in Australia, Ireland, the UK, and the US who have qualified with their respective professional organizations may be eligible to apply to the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) to be awarded the Certification of the CFPC without examination.
